What is validated e911?

e911 is a service that identifies the callers location to emergency personnel whenever a 911 call is made.  It is imperative that the e911 address reflects the actual physical location of the caller for so that emergency personnel arrive in a timely fashion.  The validation process insures that you are using a real address that 911 personnel know the location of.

This line is for incoming calls only, or a dial-up line, why do I need e911?

Every line must have proper e911 information, in case of an emergency, someone may pick up a line they normally do not use to call 911.

I'm having trouble validating an address, can I just pick a random one or use another address I know will validate?

No.  This information must be accurate, as emergency personnel may be dispatched to the e911 address on file in a life or death situation.  Please watch the TN Orders tutorial video here as it goes over e911 validation.  Additional assistance is available by sending an email to support@123.net.

The only matching street/number is listed as being in a township for the city.  Why does this not match the city name I have from the customer?

The e911 system does not use "mailing addresses" like the post office does.  A quick check with the customer can verify that they do indeed reside in that township.

Tips & Tricks

Remember that ONLY the street name AND city are searched for validation.

Leave off the street type, such as st, ave, blvd, etc.

Partial entries or none at all are acceptable for these two fields.

Remember that less is more.  Try searching by partial names and one field at a time, then narrow your search from there.

Try leaving the city blank for your first attempt.  This is less effective if it is an extremely common street name.

Ask the customer what township they are located in, as e911 uses townships for the "city" when possible.

Many city's names are abbreviated in the e911 database, so just entering the first letter or two may yield the result you seek.

If you are not getting any search results back, empty one of the fields and/or remove letters.

If you are having trouble validating, make sure to verify with the customer that you have the correct information from them.
